IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR COURSE PARTICIPANTS

 

1. READER

Students are expected to participate actively in the community of the classroom. This means preparing readings in advance of each class, asking questions, sharing your thoughts & engaging in the academic debate.

 

2. PRESENTATION

- Time: 30-45 Minutes/ Each Person [depending on the course]

- Please Give Examples & Use Available Equipment (PPP, OHP, @, Videos)!

- Additionally: Questions for Group Discussion

- Presentation per E-mail 1 Day b4 the Course

- Questions regarding Presentations: Your Draft/ E-mail e.v.e@wp.pl / My Tipps

 

3. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Each presentation is followed by discussion questions prepared by students. Questions should be framed so they might be used to provoke a conversation with all participants. Class discussion will relate both to the readings and to the students’ presentations. Come prepared with at least 3 points to discuss based on the readings!

 

4. “SHORT ANSWER” SESSIONS

Some classes will include a 15 minute “short answer” sessions. Preparing readings for each class will assist you in preparing for these assignments. A sample reaction paper question and answer will be provided to you before the first assignment.

 

5. ESSAY

The essays should be a critical review of a topic covered in the course. Important criteria for grading will be evidence that you are not simply summarizing the readings, but are attempting to synthesize them, point out areas of controversy and suggest a novel perspective.

- Deadline for Submissions: Specified at the Beginning of a given Term

- Both As Electronic (E-mail Attachment) and Paper Version

- Between 15-17 Pages (TimesNewRoman, 1,5 Spacing)

 

6. REGULAR ATTENDANCE

Classroom attendance is expected of all students. Signing the name of another student on the sheet constitutes cheating in this course and is grounds for failing the entire course.
